Plastic Free Christmas Tree

We would like to say a huge thank you to Mole Valley Farmers who donated a Christmas tree to us this year. We decided to decorate the tree based on a 'plastic free' theme. The oranges and lemons were sliced and slowly cooked on a low heat to create our decorations. A picture of our tree is at Mole Valley farmers where you can vote for it in their Christmas Tree Festival. The winning school will receive £50 of vouchers.

Music - singing carols

One of our Christmas traditions at Duloe, is our older children visiting the Jubilee Village Hall and singing to members of the community. The children sang a range of carols and the staff received some fantastic feedback about how wonderful the children's behaviour was and the quality of their singing.

Design and Technology

As part of their Roman topic, Class 2 have been designing and making clay pots. The children looked at historical designs and then created their own designs using them as inspiration.

Creative Day

During our Creative Day, professional musician, Matt Douglas, worked with the children to perform a song the children had written about protecting the environment. Matt was really impressed by the children's creativity and their singing skills. Well done, Class 2.

Local artist Sean Hewitt worked with all of the children during the course of the day to help develop a 'reflective garden'. The children produced a range on artwork inspired by the artist, Andy Goldsworthy. By using a range of natural materials the children created a range of original and innovative art.

Coordinates

Class 3 took their coordinates learning outside this week. They used a satellite image of the school grounds which had a coordinates quadrant over the top. Then they plotted significant parts of the school on the grid.

Christian Values

This week the children have been enjoying creating displays for our Christian Values of Creativity, Compassion, Friendship, Perseverance and Respect. Each class has been responsible for a different Value and the end results are all coming together in the school hall so we make links to the Values within our Collective Worship.

Children's University

This week we had a visit from 'Cub' and his team at Plymouth University to talk to the children about the 'Children's University'. It is a scheme that aims to reward children for participating in extra curricular activities within the arts, sports and community action. Some of the children even got to get involved in a graduation ceremony! More information for parents to follow...

Futsal success

Huge congratulations to our Futsal team who represented the school at a competition at Looe Secondary School this week. Not only did they come second in the tournament, they also represented the school incredibly well. Our Christian Values were demonstrated in abundance. The feedback from the staff at the event was wonderfully positive about our children, Well done team and thank you.

Cross Country

A huge congratulations to the Cross Country team who represented the school so incredibly well this week. They showed a great competitive spirit as well as  demonstrating wonderful sportsmanship. Awesome work!

Remembrance Poetry 2

To commemorate Remembrance Day, Class 3 wrote poetry from the perspective of a soldier in the trenches during the Great War. The children read their poems in church and created a display within school. Thank you to you all for your kind donations towards the Poppy Appeal.
