Early Easter Egg Hunt

Due to the restrictions related to covid-19, we brought our annual Easter Egg Hunt forward so the children didn't miss out on their chocolate treat! The staff and children would like to say a massive thank you to our wonderful PTFA who supplied all the chocolate eggs! It was an eggcellent event!

Clay Art

Class 1 have been developing their clay skills and techniques before creating their own farm animal sculptures.  They were experimenting with different ways of changing the shape (making pinch pots) then they looked at different textures for farm animals and made clay tiles which showed these.  Then tried out different ways to join the clay so that it was strong when made in to a sculpture

British Science Week

To celebrate British Science Week the children took part in different science sessions every afternoon. The children learnt about classifying animals and plants (Class 1 even have eggs incubating and tadpoles growing in their classroom). Class 3 had a great time learning about electrical circuits, with some children even being able to build their own radio!

Flying High

As part of their topic 'Why Save the Rainforest?' Class 2 made their own Birds of Paradise during their Wild Tribe session. The children were incredibly creative and showed real skill in modelling their clay and decorating their birds with objects they found.

LEGO Education Academy

The children at Duloe were very happy to take receipt of £1900 of Lego this week! LEGO Education Machines & Mechanisms provides a fantastic way to get children on the road to mastering design and technology. Children will make their own models and see and feel how basic mechanisms, structures and power sources work.

As a school, we would like to say a huge thank you to parent, Claire Massey-McCarthy, for organising this opportunity for our children at no cost whatsoever. The children and staff are very grateful!

Pilgrimage Walk

As the theme of Truro Cathedral's Children and Young People's Service this year is pilgrimage, Duloe carried out their own pilgrimage in the beautiful Looe Valley. Children from Reception to Year 6 took part in the 4.5 mile walk, accompanied by parents, grand-parents and other family members.
We were blessed to be able to carry out the walk in glorious sunshine which made the views even more spectacular. We were also lucky enough to see an array of wildlife, including tadpoles, toads and newts.
All who took part had a wonderful time and were able to enjoy talking with one another along the way.
A huge thank you to all of families who joined on this special occasion.

Eden Project

Eden Project

As part of Class 2 and 3's topic question, 'Why Save the Rainforest? they took part in some educational workshops at the Eden Project. Class 3 learnt about tribes who live in the rainforest and Class 2 learnt about the importance and range of plants in the rainforest.

The children had a wonderful day (although it was a little hot in the biomes) and their behaviour was a credit to the school.

A huge thank you to all the staff members who helped on the day and organised the visit. These fascinating experiences, which aid the children's learning, would not happen without their effort and hard work.

World Book Day

World Book Day

Thank you to everyone for making World Book Day such a fantastic event. We were delighted by how many parents and carers were able to come into school and share a story with their children. The Book Swap was also a huge success and it was great to see so many children leaving with an armful of books and a big smile.

The children's costumes looked amazing, so thank you for all of the effort that was put in at home putting them together.

It really was a fully 'booked' day!

Why are farms important to us?

Nursery and Class 1 visited a local organic dairy farm. The children walked through the fields and orchards to the farm. James the farmer answered the children's questions and explained the milking process. The children also got to feed the hay to the cows. On the way home, the children also visited some donkeys. The whole experience generated lots of questions and has inspired the children's learning.

Hands On Learning

Class 1 have hands on learners making clay tiles and pinch pots to explore ways of shaping clay and creating different animal textures to be used for their animal sculptures.
