Remembrance Poetry 1

As part of our Remembrance Day activities, Class 3 wrote poetry from the perspective of a soldier who was in the trenches during the Great War. To help them understand what it felt like to be a soldier, the children had the opportunity to dress up in modern-day military outfits and try ration packs. The children were amazed by the weight of the bullet proof vests, but were less impressed by the army rations!

Children in Need

For Children in Need this year, the children raised money by having a non-uniform day. There were some fantastic outfits with spots and pyjamas galore! Thank you all for you fantastic generosity towards this wonderful cause.

Music - Violins

Every Friday children from Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 receive violin lessons led by a music teacher from the Cornwall Music Service. The children are making wonderful progress with their playing. They are learning how to read music as well as play their instruments. We certainly have some classical stars of the future!

Do all superheroes wear capes?

Class 1 were lucky enough to have a visit from a real life superhero.

Ella the guide dog came to meet us with her owner Heather and we found out about how Ella helps Heather to live her life.

We all got to ask Heather questions and wanted to find out "How does Ella drive the car?", "How does Ella do the shopping?" and "Can she do the washing?".

Ella is only 2 1/2 years old and will stay with Heather until she is 10.  She was very calm and let everyone stroke her and give her tummy a tickle

Holy Hangout

This week we hosted our very first 'Holy Hangout' club. Rev Chloe is holding the club every Wednesday lunchtime and children of all ages are welcome to attend. The club will be a mixture of craft activities, games and planning by the children for our Collective Worship, both in school and at the church. We would like to say a huge thank you to Rev. Chloe for volunteering her time to work with the children.

First Wednesday Worship

For our November 'First Wednesday Worship' the children have helped Rev. Chloe re-design the order of service. Children led the worship through giving readings and prayers to the congregation. Rev. Chloe spoke about  Remembrance Sunday and we focused our thoughts on peace.

Music Workshop

Musician Matt Douglas joined Class 2 today to carry our a music workshop. The children enjoyed creating their own lyrics and then composing music to go alongside. The children demonstrated what fabulous singers they were and we look forward to welcoming Matt back soon, to finish off the children's masterpiece!

Art Competition

A huge congratulations to Lilia in Class 3 who has won the 'Artist's Commendation Award' in the Christmas card competition organised by the Truro Diocese. All the children within the school entered the competition and the judges were very impressed by their creativity.

Stephanie will be running a dance club after school every Wednesday after school for KS2. If you would like more information please visit the school office.
