Our team of chess players have been developing their skills and are growing into some budding grandmasters. It has been wonderful to see children from different year groups playing together and testing their game strategy.
As part of Class 3's Viking topic and Class 2's pirate topic, both classes visited the Maritime Museum in Falmouth. The children took part in different workshops and toured the museum, looking at all of the exhibits.
As part of Class 1's topic, they visited Plymouth Aquarium. They took part in a workshop to learn all about sea life and how to protect it, as well as having a guided tour. The children had a wonderful time, learnt a huge amount and were very tired on the bus ride home!
Well done to our Cross Country team who collected their medals for taking part in 4 or more of the cross-country races organised by East Cornwall Harriers this season. The children did an amazing job and we hope to have even more children take part next year.
A huge well done to our 10 strong robotics team who represented Cornwall in the national finals of the Lego Robotics League. Out of 63 teams we came an amazing 12th position. Remarkably, we were also the youngest team in the entire competition. Well done to these STEAM stars of the future!
What a super penultimate week Class 3 have had!
Class 3 have demonstrated their DT skills, measuring and hack-sawing the wooden dowels ready to make their moving toys. They are really beginning to take shape!
We finished the week in style with our hero themed 5K event. It was wonderful to discover more about the amazing things Cornwall Air Ambulance achieve, and the children were proud courageous advocates as they raised funds and awareness of the charity. Super indeed!
Another productive week for Class 3. We continued to explore the RE question, 'Why is the Torah so important to Jewish people?' and enjoyed writing in Hebrew. Creativity shone through as we introduced our mechanical toy making project. Year 5 and 6 took part in First Aid training, role-playing emergency scenarios and exploring every day hazards and how to avoid them. Finally, we topped the week off with sunshine-filled games of basketball and rounders during PE.
Class 2 have been exploring fractions this week so on Friday we headed outside to do our learning in the sunshine! Mrs Dunn's group concentrated on finding halves, whilst Mrs Hughes' group worked on non- unit fractions such as 2/3 of 21. It made fractions much more fun!
For World
Maths Day, the children used their ratio skills to create cocktails for
celebrating Vikings. We had a lot of fun and made a lot of mess!
10 amazing children from Duloe sang at the Plymouth Pavilions on the 16th March alongside 140 other Cornish school children. Songs included Hope, Try Everything and Don't Stop Me Now which reflected their exuberant energy.
A verse written by our children was also performed as part of the performance. It was a fantastic feeling to be part of this live performance after 3 years of being unable to do it in this way. The audience loved it and what a great way to showcase the singing talent we have here at Duloe!
A special thank you to Mrs Dunn for preparing the children so well and to the families that encouraged their children to go for it and have fun! We are incredibly proud of you!
