Transition

Next year, 16 children will be moving from our Nursery into Class 1. The children have been becoming even more familiar with their new surroundings this week in preperation for next year.

Music

This half-term, Class 1 have been having music lessons with Mrs Sally Butlin as part of our relationship with the Cornwall Music Service Trust. As part of their transition into Class 1, our Nursery children have also been joining in with these very fun and interactive lessons.

Hannafore visit

As part of their topic, Class1 visited the beach at Hannafore this week and took part in some pond-dipping and did a litter pick. The children really enjoyed the visit and didn't get too wet!!!

Personal Best Writing

We are so proud of Jake's writing today. He has written a letter from the Sahara Desert to his friend Ella. He did this totally independently and has showed amazing progress this year. Well done Jake

Adrenaline Quarry

As part of Year 6's leaving celebrations, we visited Adrenaline Quarry. The children took on the Aqua Park, Go Karting, Zip Wire and the most scary swing in the world!

The children were a credit to the school. They encouraged one another, showing compassion, friendship and a great deal of perseverance.

And most of all... they had a lot of fun!!!

Reading and weeding

Class 3 combined their reading with weeding today, tidying up our potato, corn, courgette and strawberry patches, while at the same time taking the opportunity to read outside. The children did a fantastic job tidying up the allotment and hopefully we will be able to harvest some of the produce next week.

Design and Technology

As part of our topic, 'What did the Greeks do for us?' Class 3 have made ballista's, a catapult used by the ancient Greeks in war.

The children had to measure and cut all the individual elements, before fixing the parts with nails and glue.

The children did incredibly well to make such fine weapons!

Art and Design

As part of our topic question, 'What did the Greeks do for us?' Class 3 made paper mache Greek vases, which depicted events from the Ancient Olympics. In history we learnt that vases were a source historians used to identify the events within the Olympics.

Physical Education

This week all the classes took part in the Cornwall Virtual Games. Normally, the children would compete against local schools, but this year the children took part in a range of activities and and submitted their results to see how well they have done compared to other schools across Cornwall

Religious Education

Class 2 visited Plymouth Synagogue to learn about Jewish festivals, Jewish practices and the Jewish calendar. The children also identified comparisons between the Jewish and Christian religions.
