Duloe is a very lucky school indeed because they have a very talented artist in Emily in Year 3! She came runner-up in a national drawing competition and won some amazing prizes. We are so proud of this talented young lady. Very well done!
A huge thank you for all of your kind donations towards Ellie’s
Haven on Wednesday. The children looked resplendent in their colourful clothes.
We had tutus, dressing gowns and lots of face-paint. You raised a whopping £100
that will be greatly appreciated by our local charity.
Here are a collection of recordings from our end of term Christmas Carol Service, as promised.
A huge thank you to Mrs Butlin, from the Cornwall music service trust, who helped pupils learn the songs.
Today in church we discussed Epiphany. Epiphany celebrates the visit of the wise men to the baby Jesus.
The children identified differences between the shepherds and the wise men. As they were different in many ways, this shows us that God wants everyone to see Jesus. In God's eyes, it doesn't matter if we are rich or poor or what country we come from.
Keira finished our service by reading this prayer:
Dear Lord,
Thank you that you wanted both rich and poor to see baby Jesus.
Thank you that we think about Epiphany, we are reminded that every person is important to you.
Please help us to use all the gifts that you have given us.
Thank you for all the good things that you give.
Amen
We had a lovely time singing in church today. It was a fantastic time and the children sang beautifully. A huge thank you to Mrs Butlin, from the Cornwall music service trust, who has helped us learn the songs.
We would have loved for family and friends to have been there. Fingers crossed that things will be back to normal soon.
We will put videos of the singing and readings up onto the website in the January.
A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all of the staff at Duloe!
The children have been making trench cakes - cakes which were sent to soldiers in the trenches in WW1 for Christmas to keep their spirits up. They used an original recipe from 1917 which had no butter or eggs due to rationing. They decorated it in a bit more of a 2021 style!
The children have also been making Christmas cards using a marbling technique and making wooden decorations. They used their own creativity to make them however they wanted.
Our wonderful PTFA managed to organise a visit from Father Christmas this week and he turned up in real style... on a tractor!
Father Christmas, with the help of his PTFA elves, brought some amazing gifts for the children, which they greatly appreciated. The children had such a fun day making decorations (also kindly provided by the PTFA) having Christmas dinner and a disco in the afternoon.
A huge thank you to everybody who helped put this special day together, including the Parish Council who have been very generous.
Merry Christmas!
Year 3 had a writing train trip with poet Sally Crabb, between Liskeard and Looe. They had to brainstorm as words as they could, then turned the words into a 'word bird'. They they were given some words on sugar paper which they arranged in order to create a poem. They put these poems onto biscuits and then got to eat their words!
During RE, the children have been learning about the Jewish festival of Yom kippur. During which they remember the story of Jonah. They made their own boats as part of the re-telling of the story and set them sail in the water-tray outside.
Class 3 took part in a two minute silence as part of our marking Remembrance Day. The children also led a church service the previous day, where Class 2 read poems they had written about the Great War.
